Disregard Kalu's disqualification, PPA tells party faithful

The Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) has urged all its members to disregard the "so-called disqualification of the PPA presidential candidate, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, and some of the other party candidates by the EFCC backed by the Obasanjo-led PDP machinery."

The Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) has urged all its members to disregard the "so-called disqualification of the PPA presidential candidate, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, and some of the other party candidates by the EFCC backed by the Obasanjo-led PDP machinery."

In a statement in Abuja Thursday, the party reminded the president "and his clique, together with the EFCC", that Nigeria is bigger than all of them, adding that the PPA shall survive.

Accusing the president of using high-handed tactics to disqualify his opponents, including Kalu, it said the move was in line with Obasanjo's recent comment that PDP failure in the polls would be calamitious and unthinkable.

"Using the EFCC, security agents and intimidation to ensure massive rigging of the April polls will be resisted by all Nigerians this time around," the party said, while calling on all Nigerians and the country's foreign friends to stand up to Obasanjo and the PDP in order to save the country from being set ablaze for the ambition of a minority clique.

Meanwhile Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu will kick off his nationwide campaign from Kano on March 3 and 4.
The statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Lisa Olu Akerele, in Abuja said the campaign train would move from the North West zone to the northeast with rallies in Taraba state on March 6 and 7. Jos will host the campaign train for the North Central zone on March 8 and 9, while Lagos will take its turn for the South West on March 10.

According to the statement, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital will host the campaign train on March 13, before the train moves to Onitsha on March 14, to terminate at Aba on March 15.
According to the statement, Kalu will embark on a visit of the 36 states of the federation and Abuja with his running mate, Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir, the national officers of the party and its gubernatorial candidates.
