The Chinese lady who was held at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos for being in possession of an International Passport belonging to a missing man, has been deported. Another passport was also allegedly found on her.
Daily Sun had in its edition of September 21, reported that Zheng Qinling and her friend, Feng Shi Xiao were picked up by detectives at the airport.
Qinling had disembarked from a Virgin Atlantic aircraft on September 12, holding a Taiwanese passport, which, after scrutiny, was found to belong to a missing man.
Daily Sun gathered that further investigation revealed that Qinling acquired the passport for 300 Yuan.
A police source, who pleaded anonymity, said contrary to Qinling’s claims that she got the missing passport from her sister, findings revealed that she bought it. The source said: "The passport was originally issued to a man, but it was reported stolen on January 7, 2005."
The entry clearance officer discovered that the document contained a counterfeit page. It also contained a counterfeit exit stamp of the Republic of China. The passport which had a Nigerian visa in it, was seized from her as she was about to board an aircraft. She was asked to report at the embassy the following day.
We have, however, discovered that Qinling is a fraudster. She admitted buying the Taiwanese passport and we found another passport which she could not account for in her possession."
The source further added that Qinling confessed to have entered Nigeria through Nairobi, Kenya. The suspect was actually heading for the United Kingdom but stopped over in Nigeria because the passport had a Nigerian visa.
Qinling’s friend, Xiao, was, however, left off the hook when detectives discovered that she has a residence permit.
