There are fears that five Nigerian police officers sent on training to Israel may have lost their lives in the recent bombing of Nazareth by the defiant Hezbollah militants in Lebanon.
The five officers were said to have been sent on a two-week training programme by the Central Bank of Nigeria on top flight guarding of personalities at the apex bank in Abuja.
Informed sources said that the Hesbollah fighters fired rocket into Nazareth, one of the towns where the policemen were undergoing the training.
Sources at the CBN told Sunday Sun that the police officers were initially posted to the bank as orderlies but sequel to a policy to further train all the security personal including private guards, it was agreed that they be sent to Israel for the further training.
Informed sources at the Force Headquarters said that there was no information from the apex bank indicating that the policemen were to be sent on course to Israel, a situation that the police authorities are frowning at.
