IPMAN Harmonises Petroleum Products Distributors
Executive Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Rivers State chapter, Mr. Sunny Mkpe, says there is a synergy between all groups involved in the petroleum products distribution chain to ensure effective distribution and sales at approved prices.
Mkpe told The Tide in a telephone interview that the synergy between his team and all the groups had engendered confidence among every group in the petroleum products business in the state.
According to him, though the task force set up to liaise with Petroleum Tanker Drivers to work out a consensus at reducing the outrageous charges at Eleme depot of the Pipelines Products Marketing Company (PPMC) has not come out with its reports, the tanker drivers have started patronising the Eleme depot.
It would be recalled that the IPMAN Chairman had earlier lamented the petroleum tanker drivers’ reluctance in patronising the Eleme depot.
Mkpe attributed the reluctance to outgrageous charges and levies imposed on the tankers at the depot by different unions and task forces.
The situation, Mkpe pointed out, was responsible for the concentration of petroleum tankers around other private depots in Port Harcourt resulting in traffic congestion on roads within the depots.
This led to the intervention of IPMAN, Rivers State Chapter in a bid to ensure the petroleum products tankers came back to the Eleme depot.
