Ogun former governor loses father
Ogun State former governor, Gbenga Daniel on Wednesday lost his father, Abraham Adebola Daniel who died in his sleep at the age of 95 years, just as the family said burial programmes would be made public in due course.
The media aide of the former governor, Gbenro Adebanjo, while breaking the death news in a statement, said the deceased was born on January 16, 1916 to the Abamba Otesile of Makun, Sagamu in Ogun State.
“The death has been announced of The Most Rev Abraham Adebola Daniel JP, father of the former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel. He died peacefully in his sleep earlier today, Wednesday, December 14 2011 at a ripe age of 95” the statement said.
According to Mr Adebanjo, the late former governor father started his missionary life as one of the main lieutenants of Primate J.O Ositelu, and in his early days, several churches were pioneered in various locations including Ibadan, Benin City, Ifo, Idogo, Ijebu-Igbo, Abeokuta among others.
The late missionary was also in Liberia where he became a close friend of President William Tubman and President William Tolbert while on evangelical mission in that country. He also toured several West African countries to propagate the gospel and carry out evangelical works
Meanwhile, late Daniel is survived by several children, grandchildren and great grandchildren among whom is the immediate past governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, while the burial programme will be announced later.
