Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana has cautioned the Oyo State Governor against allowing coronet traditional rulers (Baales) to wear beaded crowns. Oba Odulana, in a letter to Oyo State Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, said doing so would cause chaos.
He said it was contrary to tradition for any coronet rulers in his domain to wear beaded crowns.
He was reacting to a purported plan by the State Council of Obas and Chiefs to grant approval to some coronet rulers, especially those of Iddo, Lalupon, Ijaye, Latunde and Egbeda to wear beaded crowns.
The monarch said chieftaincy succession system in Ibadanland was unique and special.
Oba Odulana said the Olubadan is the only paramount ruler in Ibadanland authorised by law and tradition to wear a beaded crown
